Robertson, William (2 June 1862 – 1 Jan. 1931)

William Robertson of the town of Frankfort died January 1, 1931, at the age of sixty-eight years, hardening of the arteries being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday, January 4th, Rev. F. M. Blish officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The sons and son in laws acted as pall bearers.

The deceased was born in Dane county, Wis., June 2nd, 1862, and, at the age of two years, moved with his parents, in a covered wagon, to Goodhue county, Minnesota, where he made his home until 1919. When a young man, he taught school a number of years in Goodhue county and at Wadena, Minn. In 1919 he moved to Marathon county where he has since made his home. January 6, 1892, he was united in marriage to Bertha Maas of Dane county, Wis. To this union six children were born, namely: Mrs. Henry Nickens of Buffalo, Minnesota; Mrs. Fred Forss and John Robertson, Cannon Falls, Minnesota; Mrs. Leonard Forss and Earle Robertson, Frankfort; and Mrs. Lee Grant, at home. These, together with their mother and eighteen grandchildren, are left to mourn his loss.

Mr. Robertson was a man of sterling character, loved and respected by all who knew him. He always took an active interest in things around him and was always willing to extend a helping hand wherever it was needed and will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Forss and Mr. and Mrs. John Robertson, Cannon Falls, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nickens, Buffalo, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Halvorson and Mr. Chas. Dimick, Wanaminga, Minnesota; Mr. Walter Maas and son, Charles, Evansville, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Andry Oliver, Albany, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Maas and Miss Myrtie Harmon, Belleville, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Eden Oliver, Rothschild, Wisconsin; Mrs. Fred Sears and son, Roscoe, Neillsville, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Butterfield, Thorp, Wisconsin.

The large attendance and the many beautiful floral offerings showed the high esteem in which he was held by friends and neighbors.
