(15 Jan 1928 – 19 May 2007) Zona R. Boettcher, 79, Colby, died peacefully Saturday, May 19th, 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007, at the First United Church of Christ, Colby. The Reverend Kenneth Dix will officiate. Suzanne Dix will provide music for congregational hymns. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Zona was born January 15th, 1928, in Marshfield, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Holmes) Hines. She attended Marshfield elementary and high school and the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Zona received her teaching credentials from the Stout Institute, Menomonie, Wisconsin. On June 5th, 1954, the former Zona R. Hines was united in holy marriage to Joseph H. Boettcher. Joseph preceded her in death on October 4th, 2000. She taught Junior and Senior High School Home Economics in Iola, Pittsville and Abbotsford, as well as a variety of adult classes at the North Central and Med Sates Technical Colleges. Zona was a member of the Colby First United Church of Christ and the Women’s Guild. She also belonged to the Social Corners Homemakers, Dorchester Quilt Club, Curtiss Corners Quilters, Piece Maker’s Quilt Guild, Colby Lioness, Marshfield Area Retired Educators Association, Bridge Club and the Book Club. In addition, she was a tele-care volunteer at Colonial Center, Colby. Mrs. Boettcher also served as a clerk for the Town of Hull for a number of years. Zona is lovingly survived by a daughter, Shelby (Jim) Justus, Holcombe; a son Brian (Laurie Freeman) Boettcher, La Crescent, MN; and grandchildren Aaron, Andres, Shani and Jordan Boettcher, Kelly and Dana Justus. Besides her husband, an infant son, Randall Lee Boettcher preceded Zona in death. Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Paid Obituary 21-70625 |
