Pohl, Mary (1843 – 25 SEP 1935)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Pohl, who passed away at the Marinette County Home at Peshtigo Wednesday, were held at the St. Louis Catholic Church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock with the Rev. Clement Haines officiating. Burial took place in the Memorial Cemetery with John Jantsch, Henry Jantsch, Joe Gridl, Ed Rauscher, Frank Schopper and Albert Bischoff acting as pallbearers.

Mrs. Pohl’s death, which occurred Wednesday Sept. 25, 1935, at 7:15 in the morning, was caused by coronary sclerosis. The remains were shipped to Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) Saturday following arrangements with her daughter in New York.

Mrs. Pohl was born in Germany in 1843 and was 92 years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Wenzel Pohl and came to the United States from his home in Bohemia about forty years ago. They came to Dorchester and settled at their farm five miles east of the village where they lived for many years. Mr. Pohl passed away in 1910 and in 1925 Mrs. Pohl and one daughter, Minnie, were taken to Peshtigo.

Three children were born to the Pohls, two daughters, Minnie of Peshtigo and Mrs. Charles Bartnik of Waterloo, N.Y., and one son, John, who passed away a few years ago in the west. Mrs. Bartnik was the only one of the children who attended the services.

The Clarion join with their friends in offering sympathy to the Pohls in their loss.
