Rice, 53, formerly Miss Laura Peterson of Curtiss, who died suddenly on December 1 at her home in Bismark, N. D. Burial was made in the family lot in the parish cemetery. The Curtiss pastor, the Rev. W. L. Anderson, officiated. The church service was preceded by brief rites at the home of her brother, E. M. Peterson, who is on the old Peterson homestead, and to which the body was brought earlier in the week. Special music in the church included two songs, “Abide With Me” and “No Right There,” by a choir consisting of Mrs. Theodore Thompson, Mrs. Minnie Green, John Lokken, and Ralph Green, and a vocal solo, “Face to Face,” by Miss Lorraine Lupient with Eleanor Green as organist. Pallbearers included the following all school-day friends of Mrs. Rice: Frank Lupient, William Stevens, Frank E. Matthias, Fred Machlett, E. J. Anderson, and Robert Nissen. The floral tributes were exceptionally numerous and beautiful and were in charge of Ruth Ann Thompson, Margaret Bakke, Dorothy Pudlas, Jean and Elizabeth Phillips and Irene Knight. Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband, to whom she was married in March, 1902, and who has been the manager of the Patterson hotel in Bismark the past two years, prior to which he was similarly engaged in Minneapolis. She also leaves two sisters and five brothers. Among those present for the funeral besides Mr. Rice, were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Peterson of Peru, Ind., and a large number of friends from Minneapolis. |
