Kind, Gottlieb (25 Mar. 1845 – 1 Jan. 1932)

Gottlieb Kind passed away at Curtiss at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Kraut, January 1st, heart trouble and old age being the cause of his departure. Funeral services were held at the Curtiss Lutheran church on January 4th, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Six grand children acted as pall bearers and were Franklin Kraut, Donald Kraut, Herman Pohl, Ervin Pohl, Art Fakes, John Pagel.

The deceased was born in Germany on March 25, 1845, thus reaching the age of eighty-six years, nine months and six days. He came to the United States with his mother when twenty-two years of age and lived in Minnesota for ten years before moving to Wisconsin. He was married to Ida Kindler at Randall, Wisconsin in 1871 who preceded him in death in 1896. In 1899, he married a second time, this time to Otilda Westfall of Minnesota, who also preceded him in death. Each union was blessed with six children. Eight children are still living and are Mrs. Frank Kraut, Curtiss; Mrs. Richard Pohl, Greenwood; Mrs. Herman Pagel, Clinton; Mrs. Ervin Koener, Curtiss; Mrs. Wm. Hartwig, Milwaukee; Edwin Kind, New Holstein; Adolph Kind, Curtiss; Otto Kind, Curtiss. He is also survived by thirty-eight grand children and twelve great grand children.
