Feldbruegge, Bertha (20 JUL 1871 – 9 NOV 1936)

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the St. Louis Catholic Church for Mrs. Frank Feldbruegge, who passed away at her home in the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.) Monday evening, Nov. 9, 1936, at 12:30 a.m. following an illness of about a years duration. The service was conducted by the Rev. Clement Haines and interment was in the Memorial Cemetery.

Bertha Beyreis was born July 20, 1871 at Uderleben Thuerlugen, Germany, the daughter of Charles and ? (Lehmann) Beyreis. She grew to young girlhood there and in 1882, with her parents, immigrated to the United States and settled on a farm near Dorchester. On Nov. 5, ? she became the bride of Frank Feldbruegge at Athens and, after living for a yar and a half on the farm near Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Feldbruegge left for Windthorst, Canada, in April of 1903. They spent the next seven years there, returning to Dorchester in December of ? and settling on their present farm, two miles southwest of the village, where they have lived the past ?-six years.

Eight children were born to the Feldbruegges, one daughter dying in infancy. Seven children, with their father, mourn the loss of a beloved wife and mother. They are, Mrs. ? Powers, nee Emma, Mauston; Charles Feldbruegge, Milwaukee; Her? Feldbruegge, Colby; Mrs. Philip ?, nee Gertrude, Mauston; Henry, Miss Marie and Frank Feldbruegge at home.

Mrs. Feldbruegge also leaves nine grandchildren, Gerald, Dennis, Billy, and Robert Feldbruegge of Colby; ?, Kieran, Rita and Bertha Jean ? and Tommy Quinn of Mauston. Eight brothers and sisters also survive, Ed Beyreis, Abbotsford; ? Beyreis, Wausau; Richard Beyreis, Menomonie Falls; Charles Beyreis, Wausau; Mrs. John Hein, Wausau; Mrs. Phillip Conrad and Mrs. ? Kretschmer, Medford and Fred Beyreis of Exeland. Another brother died in infancy.

Her genial disposition, coupled with a capacity for loving her many neighbors and friends and showing it in countless acts of kindness and generosity, made Mrs. Feldbruegge one of those chosen few whom everyone loved and enjoyed. The duties of wife and mother always were uppermost in her thoughts and work, Mrs. Feldbruegge leaves a place in her home that can never be filled by anything but tender memories of a life’s task well done.
