Obit: Robinson, Marguerite (15 May 1883 – 1 May 1934)

Mrs. James A. Robinson, nee Marguerite Sterzinger, passed on to the distant shore Tuesday morning at 4:45, cancer of two and one-half years duration being the cause of her death. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church at 9:30 Friday morning, Rev. L. Lang officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.

The deceased was born in the town of Colby May 15, 1883, thus reaching the age of fifty years, eleven months and sixteen days. When sixteen years of age, she went to Milwaukee for the first time to take care of her sister, Mrs. Chart, at the birth of a son. On returning to Colby she worked for N. J. White in the Commercial House but a year later went to Withee, Wis., where she also worked for one year. From there she went to Earl, Arkansas, where she stayed for two years and then returned to Colby, but, after a year, she again went to Milwaukee where she was employed for four years and then moved to Chicago where she was employed as cook in a restaurant. She was married to James A. Robinson on September 6, 1911, to which union one daughter was born, Vera Dean, now a student in the seventh grade in St. Mary’s school. Mr. Robinson was engaged in the retail and wholesale meat business in Chicago at the time of their marriage and they moved to Colby Sept. 1, 1923, when Mr. Robinson purchased the Niehoff Hotel and changed it to the Hotel Robinson.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by her husband, daughter and three sisters and four brothers – George Sterzinger, Colby; Mrs. Matt Allar, Colby; Mrs. Theresa Chart, West Allis; Joe Sterzinger, Colby; Mrs. Barbara Schuller, Milwaukee; Mike Sterzinger, Milwaukee; Frank Sterzinger, Colby.

Mrs. Robinson died at 4:45 A.M. Just as the life of a new day was about to awaken, she slept like a tired child. Just before the birds caroled the coming of the morning and just before the rosy fingers of the orb of day tinted the eastern sky with a sheen of glory. Surely a most fitting time for a pure spirit to take its flight heavenward. She was a good Christian, a faithful member of St. Mary’s church and a faithful member of the Christian Mothers’ Society. She cared little for earthly pleasures but found pleasure in performing her duty to her church, her family and hotel. Her hand was never weary, her step never failed in ministering unto, caring for, and waiting upon those who were in any way dependent upon her. So this life has passed into the joy of her Lord, the memory of which must prove a perpetual inspiration.

Impressive funeral services for Mrs. James A. Robinson, whose death was reported last week, were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Friday morning, Rev. L. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Six nephews acted as pall bearers and were Frank G. Sterzinger, Gorman Sterzinger, Rudie Sterzinger, Ben Dahlke, Ferdinand Jicinsky and Matt Allar, Jr. The Christian Mothers’ Society, of which the deceased was a member, attended the funeral services in a body. Business places were closed during the funeral services.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Chalifaux of Chicago, Mrs. Theresa Chart of West Allis, Mike Sterzinger of South Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. John Sterzinger and son, Joseph, of West Allis, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Drewniak of West Allis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kleis and son, Raymond, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Barbara Schuller of Milwaukee.
