Obit: Rueden, John (1871 – 1934) Surnames: RUEDEN LANG SAGSTETTER WALKER LEHMAN ELSNER WIRT FLETCHER LAABS SCRATON ---Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 09/06/1934 Rueden, John (12 June 1871 – 3 Sept. 1934) John Rueden, a well-known Unity farmer and former Colbyite, died Monday morning, at 7:30, diabetes of three years duration and dropsy being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. His six sons acted as pall bearers. The deceased was born in Sheboygan June 12, 1871, thus reaching the age of sixty-three years, two months and twenty-two days. He came to the city of Colby in 1895 and worked here at the carpenter trade. He was married to Theresa Sagstetter in Colby on April 24, 1897, and they lived here until May 1, 1916, when they moved onto their farm three miles west of Unity. The deceased is survived by his widow and nine children, namely: George of Dorchester, Henry of Elkhorn, Mrs. E. Walker of New London, Arthur of Colby, Frank at home, Elsie of New London, Lawrence, John, and Anton, at home. Also one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman of New London, and one brother, George Rueden of Washington. The deceased was a faithful member of St. Mary’s church, a kind and indulgent husband and father, a good neighbor and of a very congenial disposition which made him many friends who will miss him. The following out of town people were here for the funeral services: Joe Sagstetter and wife, Harold Sagstetter and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Sagstetter, all of Wausau; Mrs. Bert Elsner, Mrs. Ed. Wirt, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Walker and children, Mr. and Mrs. K. S. Fletcher and Mike Fletcher, all of New London; Mrs. Emil Laabs, and Mr. and Mrs. George Rueden, all of Dorchester; Mr. Elmer Scraton, Royalton; Mr. and Mrs. Art. Rueden, Colby. |
