Obit: Kleinschmidt, Silas Fred (1926 – 2007)

August 1, 2007 Kleinschmidt, Silas Fred (April 22, 1926 - July 28, 2007) Silas Kleinschmidt, age 81, of Neillsville, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center. Silas Fred Kleinschmidt was born on April 22, 1926 in the Town of Fremont. He attended Forestside Grade School in Chili. After his schooling he went to work as a roofer and then he moved to Wisconsin Dells where he worked for the city. He then moved to Chili where he farmed. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. On May 10, 1947 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Barber in Stevens Point. At that time he worked for the phone company was a telephone repairman while farming and then he went to work for Nelson Muffler. He retired in 1989. Silas loved fishing and hunting and was a lifetime member of the Granton Sportsman’s Club. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Neillsville; his children, Eddie (JoAnn) Kleinschmidt, of Park Falls; Ronald (friend Tina) Kleinschmidt, of Neillsville; Joan (Gordon) Bores, of Marshfield; and Gerald (friend Annette) Kleinschmidt, of Neillsville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings, Guy (Bea) Kleinschmidt, of Wausau; Roy Kleinschmidt, of Marshfield; Idora Fenske, of Marshfield; Glen (Lilas) Kleinschmidt, of Chili; and Norbert (Dorothy) Kleinschmidt, also of Chili. Silas was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Herb Fenske; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Kleinschmidt. Funeral services for Silas were held Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Burial was in the Town of Lynn Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers for Silas were: Steven Bores, Matthew Bores, Thomas Kleinschmidt, Greg Vanderhoof, Rikki Kleinschmidt and Keith Newbury. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted Silas’ family with arrangements.
