Schoettler, Augusta #2 (11 SEP 1856 – 27 OCT 1939)

After three years of illness caused by old age and its complications, death came to release Augusta Schoettler from her suffering. She died October 27, which was the sixty-first anniversary of her wedding. She had reached the age of 83 years, one month, and 16 days. She was born in Germany Sept. 11, 1856, and there grew to womanhood. On Oct. 27, 1878 she was married to Albert Schoettler.

Mr. and Mrs. Schoettler came to America in May of 1881 and settled on a farm near Loyal where they have made their home for thirty years. They then moved into the village and lived here for fifteen years. Mr. Schoettler died in 1926. After his death she made her home with her daughter Mrs. Annie Vollrath until 1929. Then she lived with her daughter Mrs. Edna Bartline until 1933. For the past six years Mrs. Schoettler has made her home with her son Ernest who lives near Greenwood.

Mrs. Schoettler had the true pioneer spirit of neighborliness to her home and church.

Her funeral services were held at the home of her son at 1:15 Monday P. M. and at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 P. M. Interment was in the old Trinity Cemetery by the side of her husband. Rev. J. C. Langholz, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated at the funeral services.

Pall bearers were Ted Abel, Philip Vollrath, Quinton Irvine, Jack Siebold, Alvin Wolfe and Harold Hill. Four granddaughters, Mrs. Ted Abel, Mrs. Quenton Irvine, Mrs. Jack Siebold, and Mrs. Howard Hill were in charge of the flowers.

Six children preceded her in death, three sons dying in infancy, besides a son Herman, and two daughters Mrs. Bertha Degan and Mrs. Annie Vollrath.

She has two children living, Ernest of Greenwood and Mrs. Edna Bartline of Depere. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bartline and daughter Marilyn of Depere and Mrs. Emma Timbererger, Granton, were among those from out of town who attended the funeral. A granddaughter Miss Leona Schoettler of Wausau, was home Sunday but could not remain for the funeral.
