Kramer, Gertrude (21 Sept. 1861 – 10 Nov. 1935)

Mrs. Bernard Kramer, a resident of this community for over fifty years, died Sunday morning at 4:14 A.M. at the Marshfield hospital at the age of seventy-four years, heart trouble and other complications being the cause of her departure to the heavenly goal. Mrs. Kramer was taken to the hospital on October 24 to receive treatments for a hip injury which she suffered when she fell from a chair while attempting to connect an electric light bulb.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Mary’s Catholic church this Thursday morning at 9:00 o’clock, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Victor Frane, John Frinak, Albert Schuh, John Schuh, Aug. Spann, John Rankel and John Schuh.

The deceased was born in Germany on Sept. 21, 1861, and came to the United States with her parents when she was ten years old. Her maiden name was Gertrude May. The family settled near Detroit, Mich., where she was married to Bernard Kramer. The couple moved to the town of Colby where Mr. Kramer died ten years ago. Mrs. Kramer was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Mary’s church.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph of Milwaukee and Ben of Jamestown, N.D., and five daughters, Mrs. Albert Krueger of Phillips, Mrs. Chas. Krueger of Winneconne, Mrs. John Mertins of Fond du Lac, Mrs. August Prange and Mrs. Frank Kindness of Milwaukee. Also one sister, Mrs. Jacob Prosteld, of Detroit, Mich., and twenty-two grand children and seven great grand children.

The deceased was a good Christian, a faithful member of St. Mary’s church and always performed her duty as she saw it. Like all early settlers, she was of a hospitable and congenial disposition.
