Johnson, Clara Norella (21 Nov. 1909 – 3 Dec. 1996)

Unity – Clara Norella Johnson, 87, formerly of Unity, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity. The Rev. John Clasen will officiate.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Brighton, Marathon County. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Helsten, Robert Helsten, Bryan Helsten, Jack Koch, Jim Koch and Karl Kroeplein.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home, Colby.

Clara was born Nov. 21, 1909, in Unity, to Julius and Bertha Koch. She graduated from the Unity schools and Marathon County Normal School.

She was married to Alfred Johnson on June 18, 1932, in Unity. They farmed in the towns of Unity and Colby until 1968 when they retired and moved to Unity. Clara taught at a country school and worked as a clerk at various Unity mercantile stores.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its Women’s group and the church choir.

Clara is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 28, 1982, her parents, one brother and a sister.
