Riedel, August George (18 Jan. 1848 – 17 April 1942)

August George Riedel, was born January 18, 1848, at Breslau, Germany. He came to America with his parents, George and Elizabeth Riedel, in 1855, settling in Milwaukee. In 1868, Mr. Riedel came to Central Wisconsin, locating on a farm in the Mapleworks community.

In February, 1875, he was married to Rose Yankee who died a year later. In March of 1878 he was again married, to Charlotte Crevecout. They made their home in town of Grant where he passed away early Friday morning, April 17, at the age of 94 years, two months and 29 days.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rose Lautenbach, and two sons, Arthur and Theodore, and by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. His wife and four sons preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.

Six grandsons acted as pallbearers, namely: Louie Lautenbach, Victor Lautenbach, Fred Wall, Helmuth Schutlz, and Harold Kuehn, Neillsville, and Harold Riedel, Marshfield. The three granddaughters, Mrs. Fred Wall, Mrs. Helmuth Schultz and Mrs. Harry Kuehn, carried the flowers.
