Surnames: Phillipi, Thompson, Frane Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 07/15/1937 Philippi, John M. (9 June 1889 – July 1937) John M. Philippi, born at Colby June 9th, 1889, passed away at Lake Villa, Ill., and funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Peter’s church at Antioch, Ill., of which he was a member. The deceased took up telegraphy under G. Thompson and acted as relief operator for a number of years until he became station agent at the village of Lake Villa in 1911 where he served for twenty-six years. He leaves a wife, two daughters, and two sisters – Kathryn Philippi and Mrs. L. W. Frane.
