Surnames: Rabska, Brandt, Ryan, Luber, Bruchert Source: Owen Enterprise (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 11/03/1938 Rabska, Augusta (15 FEB 1871 – 29 OCT 1938) Mrs. Richard Rabska, a resident of this vicinity (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) for 43 years, passed away at her home Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 1938. Mrs. Augusta Rabska, nee Brandt, was born in Germany Feb. 15, 1871. She was baptized in early infancy in the name of the Triune God and later confirmed. She came to this country with her parents in the year 1889, making her home at Glenwood City. In 1890 she was married to Richard Rabska. This marriage was blessed with five children, four sons and one daughter, two of the sons preceding her in death. The family moved to Withee in 1895 and settled on a farm one mile west of Withee. About four years ago she moved to Owen, where she resided until death took her to her eternal resting place. She had been failing in health for some time and after several weeks of serious illness passed away at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 14 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Richard Rabska, two sons, Richard Jr. of Withee and John of Colorado, and one daughter, Mrs. Frieda Ryan of California; five brothers, Fred Brandt of Chicago, Augusta, William, Benhard and Richard of Withee; two sisters, Mrs. Conrad Luber of Marshfield and Mrs. Fred Bruchert of Withee and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home and at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Withee, of which she had been a member for many years. Rev. E.L. Wendling officiated and burial took place in the Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Rabska was a woman of true devotion to her family and many friends. She was a devoted church member and worker. Her loss and departure will be keenly felt by her host of friends. Relatives from out of town that came to attend the funeral were Fred Brandt and son, Walter Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meyer of Chicago, Mrs. Conrad Luber of Marshfield, Miss Laura Bruchert, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Kiernan and son, Kenneth, and daughter, Betty, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Mehlhorn and son and daughter of Shawano, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Brandt of Eau Claire, Mrs. Margaret Brandt of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. George Stark, Mrs. Adolph Meyer, Mrs. Gilbert Meyer of Greenwood. |
