Obit: Allar, Jake E. (1880 – 1938)
Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 11/23/1938 Allar, Jake E. (25 July 1880 – 17 Nov. 1938) Jake E. Allar, a former Colby resident and a prominent business man of Dorchester, died at 3:45 P.M. Friday at the age of 58 years, coronary embolism being the cause of his departure to the distant shore. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 9:00 o’clock at the St. Louis Catholic church of Dorchester, Rev. Phillip Weiler officiating at a requiem high mass, and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Richard Schreiber, Norman Rhyner, Andrew Kaiser, Frank Stoieber, John Stoiber, S. C. Sorenson. Honorary pall bearers were Frank Jackson, A. M. Steinwand of Colby, Mathew Leslie, August Miller, Frank Riebsch, Peter Beck. The deceased was born in Colby on July 25th, 1880, and was an active business man of Dorchester. For the past two years he operated a general store, selling his business six months ago. Since then he had been supervising work on his several farms. He was married Nov. 16, 1910, at Abbotsford to Miss Louise Dombrowe. He had been a member of the board of supervisors for Dorchester. He held the position of president for the village for eight years. He was a good citizen and Christian, of a congenial disposition and had many friends who are sorry to hear of his sudden death. He was kind and unselfish in all his dealings and placed his family’s interest before his own. Surviving are his wife and four children, Jack and Lillian Allar of Wausau and Frances and Raymond Allar of Dorchester. Also one grand child, Jacqueline Allar of Wausau and three brothers – John Allar and Math Allar, Sr., of Colby and Frank Allar of Marshfield. Two sons, James and George, preceded him in death. Out of town people at the funeral services at Dorchester were Mr. and Mrs. Math Allar, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Math Allar, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. John Allar, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Allar and Mrs. Augusta Stacke and son, Walter, all of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allar and family of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Miller of Curtiss.
