Braun, Johanna H. L. (15 Apr. 1851 – 11 Jan. 1939)

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert F. Braun, who died of old age complications at her home in Colby at 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 11, were held at the Zion Lutheran church, Saturday, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. The church choir sang a song, Harry Bender sang a solo, “Old Rugged Cross,” and Rachel Halverson of Owen, a grand daughter, sang “Meet Him Face to Face.” Pall bearers were Henry Domer, Wm. Schwantes, Louis Fink, Chas. Beaver, Abe Butler, Gust Franz. Flower girls were Genevieve Braun, Dorothy Braun, Iris Braun, Eloise Halverson, Wanda Anderson.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Johanna H. L. Rasinsky, was born in Pomerian, Germany, on April 15th, 1851, thus reaching the age of 86 years, 8 months and 27 days. She was married to Albert F. Braun in Germany in 1872 and they came to the United States in 1875 and lived in Manitowoc until 1887 when they moved onto a farm seven miles west of Colby. In September 1911, they sold their farm and moved to the city of Colby. Mr. Braun died September 26, 1924. Two daughters also preceded her in death, Bertha on March 2nd, 1919, and Ida on September 22, 1929.

Surviving children are Mary Wert of Ashland, Otto F. Braun of Loyal, Albert Braun of Platteville, Gustave Braun of Owen, Anna Anderson of Milwaukee, Reynold Braun of Watertown, Louise Halverson of Owen and Minnie Braun of Colby. The children were all here for the funeral services.

Mrs. Braun was a good Christian and always endeavored to do her duties as she saw them. She was of a kind and hospitable disposition and friendly with everybody. During her long illness, she was a patient sufferer and bore her sufferings bravely.

A. Braun of Watertown, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Morgan and son of Park Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Liskow of Neillsville, Mr. Kutchy of Neillsville, Mrs. Thorwald Carlson of Withee, Mrs. Jim Crowley of Owen, Mrs. Iam Hoffman of Wausau, Mr. Bill Nelson of Loyal and Mrs. Maul, Mrs. Berger, Mrs. Catnana and Mrs. Wicisk of Owen.
