Riedel, Lois Alva (24 Sept. 1919 – 1942)

Funeral services for Mrs. Paul Riedel, 22, who passed away at her home of a heart attack Thursday evening at 7:30, were conducted Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at the Zion Lutheran Church of Granton. The Rev. Arthur Laesch of Granton officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Laesch sang “Asleep in Jesus.”

Lois Alva Howard was born in the town of Grant on Sept. 24, 1919, graduating from the Wild Rose School there in 1934 and from the Granton High School in 1938. She was married to Paul Riedel at Granton in 1939.

The departed is survived by her husband and a son, Charles, aged two, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Howard, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Howard, Grant, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Hiles, Neillsville. She also leaves a brother, Robert, Marshfield.

Mrs. Riedel was active in 4-H club work for four years prior to her marriage. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in 1939.

The pallbearers were Rudolph and Louis Riedel, Ralph Heinz, Theodore Beilke, John Kelly and Alfred Moldenhauer.

Flowers were carried by Mrs. Clifford Blackman, Mrs. George Buddinger, Mrs. Elmer Riedel, Miss Florence Krug, Miss Charlotte Albrecht, Ann Kelly, Doris Moldenhauer, Nancy Heinz and Ione Dankmyer.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were: Sgt. Ed. Riedel, Chanute Field, Rantoul, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Joiner and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Joiner, Arpin, Wis.; Mrs. August Grim, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Howard, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howard, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heinze and daughter, Nancy, all of Marshfield; Mrs. Fred Hart, Mondovi; Glen Hart, Durand, Mrs. C. E. Bollom, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hiles, Gale Hiles, Mrs. Lill Howard and Mrs. Julia King, Neillsville.
