Buran, Rosella C. (6 Jan. 1935 – 13 Oct. 2004)

Rosella C. Buran, age 69, of 1126 S. 22nd St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 2004, surrounded by her loving family at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law: Ann Buran-Vongher and Jonathan Vongher in Wilmette, Ill.

Rosella was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Loyal, Wis., daughter of the late Benedict and Amelia Keller Braun. She attended the public school system in Loyal, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in education. On Oct. 28, 1958, she married Reginald P. Buran at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Loyal. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 2004. Rosella taught first grade for 33 years with the Manitowoc Public School System. After her retirement, she volunteered her time teaching in the Head Start Program for MACS. She was a member of the Rosary & Altar Society and St. Mary Choir at St. Mary Catholic Church for many years.

Survivors include her children: Ann Buran-Vongher and Jonathan Vongher, Wilmette, Ill.; John Buran, Manitowoc; James Buran, Chicago, Ill.; two grandsons: Michael and Christopher Vongher, Wilmette, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Rita Grant, Manitowoc; a niece: Cathy Buchner and her husband, Tom, Manitowoc; a nephew: Henry J. Grant and his wife, Carrie, Manitowoc; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronnie and Diane Braun, Marshfield; Tom and Claudia Braun, Portage; Gerald and Carmen Braun, Elk Grove Village, Ill.; and a sister and brother-in-law: Corrine and Bob Ross, Upland, Calif. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski O.F.M. with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday (Tonight) where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Phil Andrastek. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at St. Mary Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
