Sierocuk, Henry H. (26 June 1922 – 14 Mar. 2006)

Henry H. Sierocuk, age 83, of Thorp, died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2006, at Thorp Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary service.

Henry Herman Sierocuk was born on June 26, 1922, in Milwaukee to Frank and Victoria (Obrycki) Sierocuk. At the age of 2, he moved with his parents to a farm in the town of Thorp, where he was a lifelong resident. He received his education at the Yeager country school in rural Thorp. At the age of 18, he moved to Chicago to work. He later returned to Thorp and worked on the family dairy farm, which he later purchased. He was united in marriage to Ruth Slota on November 10, 1956, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. In addition to dairy farming, Henry was also a cattle buyer in the Thorp area for 48 years. Henry lived on the farm until entering Oakbrook Health & Rehab in July 2005. He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Henry had a great love for farming. He also enjoyed having horses around him and collecting and restoring International tractors.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Henry always had a smile and a joke for everyone he met.

He is survived by three children, Victoria A. Sierocuk of Thorp, Mary K. Sierocuk of Centennial, Colo., and Thomas J. (Darlene) Sierocuk of Davie, Fla.; one brother, Marion (Patricia) Sierocuk of Pardeeville, Wis.; and five sisters, Lillian (Francis) Heeler of Thorp, Harriet (Raymond) Kulak of Holcombe, Lucille Wojtowicz of Chicago, Ill., Verna Ruegger of Broadview, Ill., and Cecelia Weseman of Plainfield, Ill.; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth, on March 13, 1993; and one brother, Anton Sierocuk.
