E. York & W. Fremont – by Mrs. Orra Beeckler

Mrs. Ray Nickel accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bartz and Mrs. Bertha Bartz to Eagle River Monday to attend the funeral of a relative.

Bernard Bender and James Martin of Manitowoc and Madison were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bender and family. On Sunday they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bender in South Grant.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jahr entertained a group of relatives Tuesday evening in honor of their son, Franklin, who expects to leave soon for army duty.

Mrs. Fred Sternitzky entertained the West Fremont Homemakers’ club on Wednesday. The afternoon was spent socially, after which a fine lunch was served. Two visitors were present, Mrs. Louie Winter and Mrs. Walter Sternitzky.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Nickel and Mrs. Ray Nickel were at Marshfield Friday afternoon.

Miss Verna Elmhorst of Milwaukee spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Elmhorst, Sr. On Sunday a family gathering was held in honor of the eighteenth birthday of the twins, Verna and Vera.

Mrs. Ida Johnson of Tony has been visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Johnson, the past ten days.

Mrs. Orra Beeckler spent Friday in Granton assisting at the E. A. Beeckler home. Mr. Beeckler’s daughter, Mrs. Clark Waterman, and Mrs. William Schmidtke drove to Wausau that day. Jim Waterman returned home with them after being in the hospital for 10 days, as an appendect9omy patient.
