Heise, Augusta (29 July 1868 – 9 Oct. 1940)

Mrs. George Heise passed away at her home last Wednesday evening as a result of complications of ailments. The body was kept at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby until Saturday afternoon when short funeral services were held at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. which were followed by services at the First Evangelical and Reformed church. Rev. S. A. Schmiechen officiated and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Oscar Herrmann, Alfred Herrmann, J. C. Pribnow, Chas. Quist, Ed. Dehne and Ed. Schultz. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Oscar Dix, Mrs, Oscar Dittmeyer, Mrs. Art, Steinke, Mrs. J. F. Pribnow, Mrs. Alphons Herrmann and Mrs. Gaylord Pipkorn.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Augusta Schuler, was born in Germany on July 29th, 1868, thus reaching the age of 72 years, two months and ten days. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of about four years and located in Jefferson county. She was married to George Heise at Oconomowoc, on November 12, 1891. Five children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Heise came to this community in 1901 and lived on a farm in the town of Hull until two years ago when they moved to Colby.

Surviving are her husband and four children, namely – Edward Heise of Oconomowoc, Alvina Heise of Colby, Bert Heise of South Milwaukee and Walter Heise of South Milwaukee. Also a brother, Gust Schuler, of Seattle, Wash., a sister, Mrs. Minnie Streich, of Watertown, Wis., and one grand son, Kenneth Heise of South Milwaukee.

The deceased was a faithful member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church as well as the ladies’ guild of that church. She had been an invalid for 22 years but was always of a cheerful and congenial disposition.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Minnie Streich of Watertown, Edward Heise of Oconomowoc, Bert Heise and family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Heise of South Milwaukee, Elfrieda Duchow and Herman Buchow of Oconomowoc, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnson and Mrs. Borgemoen and daughter of Chelsea, August Schmidt of Westfield, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stephens, Elden Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dunow of Curtiss.
