(16 Aug. 1880 – 4 Dec. 1942) Orley C. Beck, 62, Merrill, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, at the hospital in that city after a few days of illness. Mr. Beck was born at Merrillan, Wis., August 16th, 1880. He was married to Elizabeth Sollberger 39 years ago. Soon after their marriage they went to Merrill, which had since been his home. Mrs. Beck passed away four years ago this month. Mr. Beck served on the city council at Merrill as alderman from his ward and also was city assessor for some years. He was active in many community endeavors and for many years served as a director and secretary of the Lincoln County Fair association. Mr. Beck was widely known in his home city and county for many public services he rendered. He was a member of the Masonic Order, in both the Blue Lodge and the Chapter. Public services were held at Merrill Sunday, Dec. 6th, the Rev. David Johnson officiating. On Monday the body was brought to Neillsville where a second service was held at the Schiller-Terhune Funeral Home with the Rev. Obed Asp conducting. He leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Mrs. Sam Miller of Sioux City, Ia., and Mrs. A. G. Adams of Seattle, Wash., and a nephew, Harry E. Boyle of Minneapolis. Interment was made in the Neillsville Cemetery beside his wife. The out of town relatives and friend attending the funeral in Neillsville included: Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller, Sioux City, Iowa, Harry E. Boyle, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Emerich, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hass, Edwin Schultz and Ole Johnson, all of Merrill; William Rosche, Tomahawk, Wis., Leslie Sherman, Merrilan; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sollberger, John Sollberger, and William Sollberger, all of Neillsville.
