Seefeld, Virgil Albert (11 March 1931 – 21 Nov. 2005)

Virgil Seefeld

SPENCER - Virgil Albert Seefeld, 74, Spencer, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Church, North Spencer. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Rebekah Tarras will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home, Spencer, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Virgil was born March 11, 1931, in the town of Unity, Clark County, to Albert and Elsie (Hendrickson) Seefeld. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1949. Virgil and Gloria Rindfliesch were married Sept. 6, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer.

He worked for the St. Croix Fish Pole Company before he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he worked for Dairy Belt Cheese and Butter for 8 years after which he decided to farm full time on the family farm. He retired in October 2002, selling the cows, but continued to live on the farm which had been in his family for more than 100 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and telling jokes. Virgil was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 385 in Unity.

Virgil is survived by his wife Gloria of Spencer; his children, Greg Seefeld of Neenah and Cindy Gaetz of Loyal; and four grandchildren, Melissa Gaetz, Travis Gaetz, Evan Seefeld and Staci Seefeld.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
