Marg, Gerald Edward Sr. (22 April 1927 – 20 Dec. 2005)

Gerald Marg, 78, Marshfield, formerly of Granton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Miller Alternative Care Facility in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Gerald will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Missouri Synod Church in Granton. Pastor John Trewyn will officiate. Music will be provided by Jim Reece, soloist and Caroline Helm, organist.

Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Casket bearers are his nephews, Tom Gilbertson, Jim Gilbertson,Tom Gilbertson, Ron Gilbertson, Roger Aschbeck and Rod Aschbeck.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., today at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.

Gerald Edward Marg was born April 22, 1927, in the town of Lynn, the son of Edward and Edna (Brown) Marg. He attended the Big Four Grade School near Chili and graduated from Granton High School in 1944. After graduation he entered the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II. Following his discharge he worked as a cheese maker at both the Riverside Cheese Factory in Chili and Neillsville Milk Products. On May 15, 1948, Gerald was united in marriage to Betty Gilbertson in Granton. In 1966, he began working at Modern of Marshfield as a fabric cutter until his retirement in 1991. Gerald was a member of Zion Lutheran Missouri Synod Church and its Men's Club in Granton.

He is survived by a son, Gerald (Pam) Marg Jr. of Arpin; and one granddaughter, Tanya Marg of Chili.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Neva.
