Crawford, Maude (30 June 1874 – 6 Oct. 1942)

Mrs. Maude Crawford, widow of the late Robert James Crawford, passed away at her home at Atwood, Tuesday evening, Oct. 6th, at the age of 68.

She was born at Lyons, Iowa, June 30th, 1874, spending her early life in that vicinity. She united with the Methodist church in early youth. She was married to Robert Crawford on March 15th, 1892, and resided at Miles, Iowa, until 1924, when the family moved to Owen, Wis., and after residence there for five years moved to Major, Sask., Canada, and thence to Lloydminister, Sask., Canada, where his health failed. In 1939 Mrs. Crawford moved to Atwood and has been in failing health for some time.

She leaves to mourn her passing five children: Glen N. Crawford of Humboldt, Iowa, Mrs. Elmer Elstrom of Owen, Mrs. A. R. Gibson of Clinton, Iowa, James H. Crawford of New London, Conn., and Phillip H. of Gilmore, Ont.

Also five sisters: Mrs. Mary Kramer of St. Lawrence, S. Dakota, Mrs. Henry Kramer of Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Phoebe Koop of Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Ray Frost of Murray, Utah, Mrs. M. L. Fisher of Davenport, Ia. One brother, of Ditman, Iowa, and one brother in law, Mr. R. V. Crawford of St. Paul, Minn.

She was buried in the Colby cemetery, Rev. A. C. Riley of this city preaching the funeral sermon. The Message of Comfort was taken from Deut. 31. vs. 6-8: “Be not afraid for He will not forsake thee. All fear and anxiety may be banished by the promises, presence and power of the loving Heavenly Father.”

Miss R. Bjoin sang two songs: “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and “Nearer My God to Thee.”
