Surnames: Jordan, Lang, Lube, Schommer, Linn, Jensen, Schultz, Demmer, Hiebsch, Arndt, Thompson, Rolbeck Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 11/26/1942 Jordan, Margaret (8 Nov. 1863 – 20 Nov. 1942) Mrs. Joseph Jordan, a patient at St. Francis’ Hospital at LaCrosse for the past nine months, died there at 9:15 o’clock Thursday night at the age of 79 years. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday morning at 9:00 o’clock, Rev. L. J. Lang officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Henry Lube, Joseph Schommer, Billy Jordan, Andrew Jordan, Junior Linn and DuWayne Jensen. Those in charge of the flowers were Cecelia Jordan, Betty Jordan, Ruth Mary Jordan and Gladys Schultz. Mrs. Jordan, the former Margaret Demmer, was born in Germany on November 8, 1863, and came to the United States with her parents when she was 16 years of age, settling on a farm north of Colby. She was married to Joseph Jordan in Colby on Jan. 8, 1883. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Jordan moved onto a farm west of Colby where they lived until Mr. Jordan’s death in 1929. Since that time, and until she entered the hospital, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Hiebsch, at Curtiss. She was a member of the Christian Mothers’ Society of St. Mary’s congregation. Surviving are eleven of her 14 children – Joseph Jordan of Mellen, Peter Jordan of Hurley, Frank Jordan of Unity, Matt Jordan of Ontonagon, Mich., Mrs. August (Mary) Lube of Marshfield, Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Hiebsch of Curtiss, Mrs. Charles (Ida) Linn of Astic, Mrs. Henry (Hildegarde) Arndt of Milwaukee and Mrs. William (Agnes) Jensen of Spencer and two sisters, Sister M. Laurentine of LaCrosse and Sister M. Francilla of Harper, Iowa; 38 grand children and 14 great grand children. Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jordan and two children of Hurley, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jordan and two children of Mellen, Andrew Jordan of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Jordan and three children of Ontonogan, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. August Lube and Henry of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Linn and two children of Astico, Mrs. Henry Arndt and daughter of Milwaukee, Sr. M. Francilla of Harper, Iowa, St. M. Laurentina of LaCrosse, Mr. and Mrs. George Thomson and three children of Marshfield, Mrs. Wm. Rolbeck of Stetsonville, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hiebsch of Curtiss, John and Mary Schommer of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schommer and two children of St. Paul, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Vendelin Schommer and son of Abbotsford.
