Baehr, Arnold (1898? – 25 Aug. 1943)

Funeral services for Arnold Baehr, age 45, of Lake Mills, whose death occurred Wednesday, August 25th, were held at St. Peter’s Lutheran church at Dorchester at 2:00 p.m. The body had been lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral home in Colby. Members of the American Legion post of Lake Mills acted as pall bearers. Burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mr. Baehr was field representative for Libby, McNeil and Libby and met his death when his car overturned and exploded. What caused the accident is not definitely known but it is believed that there had been a blowout. Several five gallon cans of gasoline, which Mr. Baehr was delivering to a vinery, were in the car.

Arnold Baehr lived on the farm of his parents just south of Dorchester until he moved to Hartford in 1939. He was fieldman for Libby, McNeil and Libby at Dorchester when that company owned the factory. After spending two years at Hartford with the same company, he moved to Lake Mills where he was also fieldman for the same company. Mrs. Baehr is the former Louella Luhrsen of Abbotsford.

Surviving besides his wife are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baehr, of Dorchester; two brothers, Walter of Dorchester and Herbert of Abbotsford; three sisters, Mrs. Herb (Elma) Wilhelmi of Abbotsford, Mrs. Fred (Norma) Kramer of Milwaukee and Mrs. Rudolph (Cora) Ewig of Milwaukee. A brother and a sister, Alfred and Alma, died in infancy.
