Meske, Margaret “Marge” E. (9 June 1924 – 22 Feb. 2006)

Margaret “Marge” E. Meske died at her home in Chippewa Falls, Wis., early in the morning of February 22, 2006, surrounded by her immediate family. This followed heart surgery in November, complicated by cancer and bacterial infection.

Marge was born on June 9, 1924, in Thorp, Wis., to Anna and Ignatius Przybylski. She graduated from Thorp High School in 1942. She attended St. Benedict College for one year, and three years at St. Frances School of Nursing in La Crosse, Wis., where she became a registered nurse in 1945. She married Joseph Meske, also of Thorp, in 1947, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. In addition to raising a family and helping to run the family farm, and later the Lone Pine Cheese Factory and Store, she worked as a registered nurse in various capacities throughout her life, including at the Sister Elizabeth Institute for Polio, Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee, Saint Michael’s Hospital of Stevens Point, Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, and lastly at both the Northern and Southern Wisconsin Centers for the Developmentally Disabled. Following her retirement in 1995, she was involved in volunteer work with Goodwill, Chippewa Falls Senior Center and Holy Ghost Catholic Church choir.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Chippewa Falls; her son and his wife, Mark and Denise of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; her son, Paul of Sun Prairie, Wis.; her daughter and her husband, Ann and Ron Johnson of Chippewa Falls; and four grandchildren, Joseph and Melissa Reynoso and Jessica and Emily Meske. She is further survived by her twin brother, Theodore “Ted” Przybylski; her sister, Dorothy (Jedrychowski); and her brother, Robert “Buddy” Przybylski.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Francis; her sister, Theresa (Tomkowiok); and grandson, Luke Reynoso.

It was her wish to be cremated. A memorial Mass is being planned for the near future at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 412 S. Main St., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for cancer research has been established in her name.

We would like to thank the many staff members of Luther Hospital, Osseo Rehabilitation Center, Rutledge Nursing Home and St. Joseph Hospice who helped to make a positive difference in her last four months.
