Unity – July 6, 1881

Miss Capitola Stage left for her home in Stockbridge, Tuesday.

Mrs. M. L. Marsh starts next week for ?, for the purpose of visiting her daughter and son.

Our Literary Society last Friday was thinly attended, however, the program was carried out as near as practicable.

Eldor Woodruff and wife, of Chippewa Falls, are visiting his brother and sister. It is pleasant to see his genial and smiling countenance once again upon our streets.

S. A. Cook is still doing his customary amount of business despite the “Croakers” who were going to have him fail on account of the “Whitcomb” financial trouble.

Miss Edith Petrie is visiting friends at Milwaukee, will also visit at Oconomowoc, and Concord, her old home. We trust that she will have a pleasant visit among her childhood friends.

The celebration was a success, and the day kept in the usual way, the Oration splendid, and C. F. Grow’s letter of apology for not meeting with us, was read and duly appreciated.

The past week Mr. E. Creed has put up, and nearly finished a 30x40 foot barn. Mr. Creed evidently believes in that old song, “A little farm well tilled, a little barn well filled, and a little wife well willed.”

Last Sunday afternoon Rev. Bergess, of Loyal, preached to the people of Unity. Owing to the extreme heat there was but a small congregation. Rev. Chas.
