Unity - Dec. 26, 1889

Well, Christmas is come and gone. The entertainment was a success, the ship was loaded and all went home with their arms full of Santa Claus’ store.

There was a Christmas tree in Ayer’s district.

The pupils of the High school department presented their teacher, E. T. Johnson, with a fine album and a box stationery for a Christmas present.

N. C. Ransom drove out to Caswell’s mill, last Sunday.

School continued up to Christmas Eve. There will be a short vacation until next Monday.

Miss Bessie Dickerman, who has been teaching the Lamont school, started for home, last Saturday, to spend the holidays.

The anniversary ball, held the 20th, was a grand success. The supper was excellent and there was the best of music.

The week before Christmas, the men of Unity were engaged in playing “tangle” for turkeys.

Mr. Diedrick Berg arrived, Friday evening, to spend Christmas.

Bills are out for a grand New Year dance to be held at Flood’s hall, on Tuesday evening, Dec. 31st. Music will be furnished by Parkhill, Hull & Firnstahl. Tickets to dance, including oyster supper, $1.00. A good time guaranteed.

I. C. Eggleston has a fine stock of confectioney.

H. J. Parkhill, F. Firnstahl and C. F. Hull were down, last Friday evening, to play for the dance. Geo. F. Dailey did the prompter’s act.

Mr. Welsch, of Colby, was on our streets, Tuesday.

E. T. Johnson started for home, Christmas morning.

Dave Clark was in town Friday, and attended the dance.

Mr. Disbro, of Stevens Point, registered at the Pettet House, Tuesday.
