Surnames: Polnaszek, Kobylarczyk, Strzok Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 09/05/1940 Polnaszek, Frank (8 SEP 1904 – 3 SEP 1940) Frank Polnaszek died at 5:30 Tuesday morning at the hospital at Marshfield of injuries received when the car in which he was riding upset about one-half mile south of Unity on Highway 13. He would have been 36 years old on Sept. 8th. He has spent some time in Chicago where he was employed and was returning here to visit his mother who is quite ill. Other occupants of the car were the driver, Ben Luniewski, Anton Luniewski and Frank’s brother, Peter Polnaszek, all of whom escaped with miner scratches. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at ten o’clock at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church with Father F.A. Kulig officiating, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The body now lies in state at the Bogumill Funeral Home. An obituary will be published next week. (Follow on in 9/12/1940 Thorp Courier) Frank S. Polnaszek passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, 1940, of injuries received in an auto accident near Unity, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 31st. He was coming to Thorp from Chicago for a visit with his mother when the accident occurred. Frank was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Polnaszek and was born on Sept. 8, 1904 in Township of Withee, where he was brought up on the home farm and attended the local schools. He spent most of his life in and around Thorp but for some time was employed in Minneapolis and four months prior to his death was in the employ of the Vacuum Con. Co., in Chicago as a shipping clerk. Of a most pleasing personality, he enjoyed a large circle of friends who will sadly moss his presence in their midst. He leaves to mourn his early demise, his aged mother, Mrs. Hedwig Polnaszek, three brothers, John of Minneapolis, Thomas of Thorp and Peter of Chicago, three sisters, Mrs. Jos. Kobylarczyk of Thorp, Mrs. Peter Strzok of Minneapolis and Mrs. Nick Strzok of Gilman. The body lay in state at the Bogumill Funeral Home here until the time of the funeral which was held Friday morning at St. Hedwig’s Church, Rev. F.A. Kulig officiating. Interment was made in the parish cemetery nearby. Pallbearers were, Frank Panek, Joe Panek, Mike Szerlong, Ed Bogumill, Frank Kolaczkowski and Chester Luniewski. Persons from away who were here to attend the funeral of Frank Polnaszek were: Mrs. A.S. Brown, Mrs. T. Scharskey, Joe Brown, Mr. and Mrs. John Salika, Frank Panek, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Panek, Misses Harriet, Helen and Laura Koscielski, Mrs. Randol Pierce, Tom and Leon Kobylarczyk, Misses Pauline and Josephine Kobylarczyk, Chas. Light, all of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kobara, Joe Kobara of Pulaski, Wis.; Mat Kobara, Sobieski, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. M. Chaplinski, Gilman, Wis.; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hermes and Mr. and Mrs. Jerrie Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn. |
