Raeck, Fred Sr. (23 AUG 1853 – 7 DEC 1940)

Fred Raeck, Sr., town of beaver farmer died at his home 9 miles west of Unity Saturday evening at 9 o’clock December 7, 1940. Death was due to a complication of ailments. One son preceded him in death.

Mr. Raeck who lived on the same farm for the past 45 years, was born in Germany, Aug. 23, 1853. He attained the age of 87 years, 3 months and 14 days, and came to the United States with his parents when he was 7 years old. His parents settled in Manitowoc County. He was married there March 11, 1885.

He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife and 7 children. They are namely: Fred Jr., of Green Grove, Herman, unknown, Mrs. Lizzie Roohr, Beaver township, Mrs. Lena Wilke, Kewaunee, Mrs. Mabel Hardrath, Green Grove, Mrs. Lillian Schuette, Beaver township, and Mrs. Leona Ruzek, Two Rivers. And 25 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The body was taken Monday afternoon, Dec. 9, from the Co-operative Funeral Home, Marshfield, to the Reack home where services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

Mr. Fred Petran of Milwaukee officiated at the rites and burial was made in the Beaver cemetery.

Pall bearers were 5 sons-in-law, and his son Fred Reack, Jr., Fred Wilke, Wm. Roohr, Jr., Henry Hardrath, Adolph Ruzek, and Walter Schuette.

The flower girls were grandchildren, Beulah Witte, Delores Ruzek, Beverly Roohr, and Helen Reack.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilke and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilke of Kewaunee, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Ruzek and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ruether, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sickinger all of Two Rivers, Mr. Edwin Reack, town of Two Rivers, Mr. and Mrs. John Ruether of Mishicot, Mr. Charles Marquardt of Manitowoc, Mrs. Emma Schmidt, Mr. Kurt Schmidt of Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Meyers of Mellon.

We extend our sympathy to the bereaved widow and family.
