Obit: Connor, James (1860 - 1915)
Surnames: CONNOR BOYLAN MCCARTHY Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 04/08/1915 Connor, James (2 OCT 1860 - 29 MAR 1915) James Connor was born on a farm at Briggsville, Columbia Co., Wis., on Oct. 2, 1860, and died at St. Joseph's Hospital at Chippewa Falls on Monday, March 29, 1915, as a result of an operation for rupture. Mr. Connor was held in high esteem in this community (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), where he had spent nearly thirty-five years, and his death is universally regretted. His parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death, three brothers, Eugene Connor of Briggsville, and Charles and John Connor of Collyer, Kansas, survive him. Mr. Connor was united in marriage with Miss Annie Boylan on Nov. 23, 1885, whose death took place on May 8, 1887, followed soon after by the death of an infant daughter, born to them on April 18 of the same year. On July 11, 1892 he was united in marriage with Miss Nettie McCarthy of Grand Rapids, who, with five children, Louise, Ronald, Beatrice, James and George survive him. Another son, Charles, died in 1904. The funeral took place on Thursday morning last from St. Bernard's Catholic School building and was conducted by father Neises and the local Order of Catholic Foresters, of which deceased was a member, interment following in the Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers were R. Verweyst, G. Vanderhyden, John Verkuilen, M. Greisch, Andrew Brunner and George Beller; Guards: P. Finnegan and M. VanLoo. The funeral procession was the largest seen here for many years. All business places were closed during the services. To the broken-hearted wife and children who listen in sorrow for his footsteps, which shall never again find echo, the Courier joins the community, in extending sincere sympathy in their great sorrow. When they have drained the cup may the peace that passeth all understanding come to them from One who cares for each little sparrow that falls.
