Obit: Sohrweide, Helen
Helen Sohrweide Helen Bemmann Sohrweide, age 79, of 120 E. 6th Avenue, Stanley, WI, died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Helen was born on November 27, 1921, in Lublin, WI, the daughter of Wladyslaw and Maryanna Lebiecki. Later she moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she was united in marriage to Gerhard Bemmann on July 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1969. Helen and George owned the Welcome Bar located on 1st Avenue in Stanley for a number of years. After selling the bar Helen worked Les’s Clothing until she retired. She had a great love for gardening and her flower garden was renowned. She married Richard Sohrweide on October 13, 1990. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Stanley, WI. Survivors include her husband Richard of Sturgeon Bay, WI; two sons; Richard (Agatha) Bemmann of Burton, Michigan and Ronald (Nancy) Bemmann of Sturgeon Bay, WI: three grandsons, three great grandchildren and her brother, Joseph Lebiecki of Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Gerhard Bemmann, Earl Markham and Gerald Ovyn, and two brothers, Paul and Edward Lebiecki. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8, 2011, at Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley with Pastor Fred Sauder officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Stanley, WI. Visitation was Saturday from 11:00 a.m. till time of services at the Funeral Home. The Thorp Courier September 12, 2001
