Kobs, Eileen Lorraine (30 Sept. 1922 – 19 Apr. 1946)

Eileen Lorraine Kobs, age 23, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Kobs of Colby, died Friday evening at 5:30 o’clock at Rochester, Minn., following an operation. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Julius Kademan, Harold Kademan, Milford Frome, Arnold Rannow, Junior Tesmer, Frederick Schwierske. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Melvin Kunick, Mrs. Merlin Schjoneman, Serena Sabler, Patricia Reeves, Virginia Firnstahl and Rita Kriplean. Her favorite songs: “Now Rest Beneath Night’s Shadow” and “Beautiful Savior,” were sung by Woodrow Tesmer.

Miss Kobs was born on September 30th, 1922, in the city of Colby. After completing the Colby grades and Colby High School, she attended Central State Teachers’ College in Stevens Point four years and then taught one semester at Unity. For the past two years, she taught kindergarten at Echo.

Surviving are her parents, one sister, Bernice of Milwaukee, two brothers, Gerald, in the U.S. army, and DeLos of Badger, Wis., and her grand mother, Mrs. Edward Voge of Colby.

Eileen always had a smile for everyone and was well-liked by all who knew her – in Colby, Stevens Point and Eicho. Her greatest pleasure was singing and small children. She underwent two operations at Rochester. The first was successful but the second proved fatal.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Marks and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Marks of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Voge and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voge of Abbotsford, Mrs. Vincent Franz of Owen, Dr. and Mrs. Larry Halfen of Fond du Lac and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Blazel of Medford. Out of town friends here were Richard H. Moss of Antigo, Mrs. L. G. Honzik, Louis Maddendorf, Lois Siverson, Ruth Olson, Joyce Kreslich, Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Sutton, Principal Paul Hein, Vincent Kurten, Mrs. R. Rotenberger, Mrs. R. Pauin, Alma Miller, Olga Schoenick, Mrs. W. A. Maertz and Fred Parise, all of Eicho, Miss Phyllis Kolstad and Mrs. Golman Kolstad of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Swarthout and Mrs. Bertha Georgas of Spencer, Mrs. Kenneth Boner of Chicago, Wm. Ewert and Mrs. Emma Ewert of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Lang of Wausau, Miss Pfeiffer, Wm. Barber, Mrs. Elizabeth Priffner, Margaret Beaver and Carol Ocklander of Stevens Point.
