Surnames: Schade, Zahorka, Brandt, Krepsky, Simon, Empey, Schondemier Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 05/09/1946 Schade, Bernard F. (13 May 1881 – 6 May 1946) Bernard F. Schade died at his home in Colby Monday, May 6, at 11:30 A.M., complications being the cause of his death. He had been ailing for several years but became seriously ill the first of the year. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral Home, where the body is lying in state, and at 2:00 o’clock at the Zion Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating. The deceased was born in Germany on May 13, 1881, thus reaching the age of 64 years, 11 months and 23 days. He came to the United States with his parents when one year of age. The family settled on a farm near Milan where the deceased lived until about three years ago when he retired from the farm and lived in Milan about two years, and then moved to Colby on July 13, 1945. He was married to Mary C. Zahorka in the town of Holton on August 6, 1908. Six children were born to this union, five of whom are living. One died in infancy. Surviving Mr. Schade are his wife and five children – Mrs. Henry Brandt of Colby, Harold Schade of Milwaukee, Mrs. George Krepsky of Colby, Everett Schade of Milwaukee and T/Sgt. Elroy Schade of Fort Meade. Also three brothers and sisters – Emil Schade of Amherst, Wis., Richard Schade of Abbotsford, Albert Schade of Red Wing, Mrs. Meta Simon of California, Mrs. Alma Empey of Waukesha and Mrs. Clara Schondemier of Park Falls.
