Surnames: Dickinson, Ruehle, Henshel, Stone, Walker, Swanberg, Gifford Source: OWEN ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 03/06/1941 Dickinson, Martha (2 APR 1869 – 25 FEB 1941) Mrs. Arthur E. Dickinson, 71, the former Martha Ruehle, passed away at her home near Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) on Tuesday morning, Feb. 25, 1941. She suffered a stroke on Feb. 23, 1937, from which she never regained her speech nor the use of her right side. Mrs. Dickinson was born April 2, 1869 at Durand, where she spent the early years of her life. Her parents, William and Anna (Henshel) Ruehle, then moved to a farm in Bear Creek Valley, where she grew to womanhood. She attended the Averill School. On Sept. 7, 1898 she was united in marriage to Arthur E. Dickinson and moved to the farm in the town of Lima where they lived until they sold the farm in the fall of 1919, at which time they moved to Durand. In 11922 they moved to a farm near Withee. Three children were born to them, Arthur Jr., who passed away at the age of 20, nineteen years ago while visiting relatives in Minnesota; (Ida Mae) Mrs. Edward Stone, and Levi, both of Withee. Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Besides her husband she is survived by two grandchildren, Bonnie Mae and Lyle Arthur Dickinson; also nieces, Mrs. Earl Walker, Modena and Mrs. Swanberg of Minneapolis, and nephews, Harvey Gifford of Durand, and William Ruehle of San Francisco, Calif. An aged sister-in-law, Annie Ruehle, lives in Seattle, Wash. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Rostad from the Griebenow Funeral Home at Owen Thursday morning at 10 o’clock and short services at the grave in Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand, at two o’clock. Pallbearers were Howard Blazer, Bernard Blazer, Theron Looker, Cecil Looker, Wesley Sigglekow and Eldon Wagner. Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Dickinson of Eau Claire came to attend the services and went to Durand with the family. |
