Borchert, Mary (12 May 1870 – 11 June 1948)

Mrs. Mary Borchert died at the home of her son, Louie, Friday evening, at 8:30 o’clock at the age of 78 years. She had been ill several months. Funeral services were held in Zion Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Frederick Lulloff, Edwin Hertz, Donald Borchert, Lloyd Lulloff, Floyd Lulloff and Herbert Lube. Flowers were in charge of grand children, Mrs. Roger Staffeil, Mrs. Roland Knecht, Mrs. Frederick Lulloff, Dorine Laabs, Karen Lee Laabs and Mrs. Herbert Lube.

Mrs. Borchert, nee Mary Werner, was born on May 12, 1870, and was married to Ernest Borchert on June 6, 1889. He died on May 5, 1929, since which time she made her home with her son, Louie.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and the Ladies’ Aid society.

Surviving are two sons, Louie and Carl of the town of Colby, three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Augusta) Hertz of Abbotsford, Mrs. Walter (Edna) Laabs and Mrs. Fred (Elsie) Lulloff of Owen, three brothers, Julius and Herman of Edgar and Edward of Stratford and one sister, Mrs. George Penke of Glenwood City, Wis. There are 11 grand children and three great grand children. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Julius Werner and son, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Werner, Mrs. Carrie Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Werner, Herman Werner, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Viegut and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Viegut, Rinehold Viegut, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hertz and Mrs. Fred Johnson, all of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schultz, Gilbert Schultz, Mrs. Hattie Schultz, Mrs. Paul Hintz, all of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Werner and Mrs. Alvin Dix and sons of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. James Calwell and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peske of LaCrosse, Miss Selen Meyer and Mrs. Ervin Facy of Milwaukee, Mrs. Edward Jorgenson of Rhinelander, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Lulloff, Mrs. Lydia Laabs and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Woik of Owen, Mrs. James Arshambo of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Werner of Christie, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Knecht of Unity.
