Surnames: Schaefer, Biegler, Vratney, Donahue Source: The Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 14 Oct. 1943 Schaefer, Anton (13 July 1875 – 12 Oct. 1943) Anton Schaefer passed away on Tuesday morning, October 12, at his home on South Court Street. Funeral services will be held at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Friday and at St. Mary’s Catholic Churh on Friday at 9 a.m. * * * Source: The Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 21 Oct. 1943 Funeral services for Anton Schaefer, who passed away at his home in Neillsville on Tuesday, October 12, were held on Friday, October 15, at 8:30 at the Schiller-Terhune funeral home, and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Father J. A. Biegler conducting the services. Death was caused by complications after a long illness. Mr. Schaefer was born on July 13, 1875 at West Bend, Wis. He was born and raised on a farm, and worked in a farm in Illinois as a young man. He received his education in the parochial schools. In 1903, he came to Clark County and has resided here ever since. About two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer moved from their farm in the town of York to Neillsville, purchasing the home at 323 South Court Street. On September 5, 1911, he was married to Mary Vratney at Neillsville. Three children were born to this union, two sons and a daughter. The wife and two sons, Raymond of Marshfield and Everest of Neillsville survive. The daughter, Marcella, Mrs. Francis Langreck, passed away several years ago. The deceased is also survived by six grandchildren, and by two brothers and one sister, Frank of Chicago, and Peter and Mrs. Francis Donahue of Neillsville. Her parents and three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Schaefer was a member of the Holy Name Society. Rosary services were held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, at the funeral home where the body lay in state. Burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
