William P. Richmond, whose home is on Route 1, Neillsville, passed away Sunday, December 12, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been taken on Tuesday, Dec. 7, following an accident at his farm home. He had received serious injuries while engaged in cutting wood, injuries from which he never rallied. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Lowe’s funeral home, the Rev. George W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational church, conducting the services. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. Richmond was born at Pine Creek, Minn., on August 12, 1868. He was 75 years of age, and had resided on the farm in the town of Levis the past 45 years.

His first wife, whose maiden name was Julius Jolivette, passed away forty-four years ago, leaving him with the care of three small children. In 1917, he was married to Jessie Jolivette who survives him, and who was with her husband at the hospital.

Mr. Richmond was served his township several times in public office. He was at one time town chairman, and for twenty years served on the school board.

Surviving are three children of the first marriage, Lulu, Mrs. Julius Rennak, Granton; Roy, Marion, Ind.; and Grace, Mrs. H. L. Sprague, Lincoln, Ill. Two children of the second marriage survive, Harold Robert and Eileen, who are at home with the mother. There are also three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Tom Ferris of La Crosse also survives. His parents and five brothers and sister are deceased. One son, Glen Francis, was killed in action in the Pacific War area on Nov. 13, 1942.

The son, Roy, and the daughter, Mrs. H. L. Sprague, were here for the funeral services. Mrs. Richmond is ill, and was unable to attend the services.

Pallbearers were six neighbors, Frank Neubecker, Matt Neubecker, Floyd Hagie, John Sonheim, Sr., Paul Jonas, and Martin Kurasz.
