Memorial service for Beverley J. Bone, 78, of Rohnert Park, Calif., will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, at the Events Room of Spreckel’s Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park. Born Violet May Williams, in Denver, adopted daughter of Edward and Frances Pascoe, she died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at home, surrounded by her family. When she was seven years old, Beverley's family moved to Abbotsford, Wis. where she was raised. A gifted musician, she sang in her school and church choirs, and played several brass instruments and the French horn in the high school band. Beverley was awarded music scholarships after graduation for both voice and instrument, but entered into nurses training, a requirement for becoming an airline stewardess, which was her dream career in 1944. She moved to Chicago at the age of 18 to attend nursing school at Illinois Masonic Hospital. At 21, she married Robert J. Hansen, a World War II Marine, and raised two children together until divorcing 20 years later. Beverly worked as a copywriter for an electronic publishing company for 22 years. After a five year courtship, Beverly finally agreed to marry Walter H. Bone in 1971 and moved to Arlington Heights. With her second marriage came a second career as a secretary to the Criminal Investigations Bureau of the Arlington Heights Police Department for 18 and 1/2 years. Widowed in 1978 to her beloved Wally, she found happiness in visiting her family for vacation every year in California. Retiring in 1994, she realized her long-held dream of permanently moving to California to be closer to her children and granddaughter in 1999. After the love of family, music remained her passion, and she continued to enjoy singing a wide range of tunes, from old hymns and musicals to the ballads of Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett. A once avid reader, Beverley loved Tony Hillerman mysteries and the Hercule Poirot series on television. A gentle soul with a loving heart and playful sense of humor, she will always be missed and continues to be cherished by all those who loved her. Beverly was the dearly beloved mother of Robyn (Tom) Hansen of Rohnert Park and Michael (Joanne) Hansen; and much adored grandmother of Sarah of Petaluma, Calif.
