Rudnick, Lawrence Leo (September 8, 1924 - January 20, 2008)

Lawrence L. Rudnick, age 83, of Thorp, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin with Rev. John Long officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Lawrence’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a combined Knights of Columbus and parish Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Lawrence Leo Rudnick was born on September 8, 1924 in Anamoose, ND to Paul and Hattie (Schuelke) Rudnick and received his education at area schools. He was united in marriage to Margaret Peerboom on September 28, 1948 in Danvers, MN. After their marriage, Lawrence worked as a farm implement mechanic and farmed in the Anamoose area until 1960, when they moved to the Town of Roosevelt, rural Thorp. Lawrence continued to farm and also worked as a mechanic for Virgil Isaac in Stanley for many years. In 1981 Lawrence and Margaret sold the family farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sue Rudnick and moved to a small farmette in the Town of Taft. Lawrence continued to help his son, Donald, on the farm until retiring in 2001. Among his many hobbies his favorite was working on John Deere tractors and John Deere farm equipment.

Lawrence was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where he sang in the church choir for many years and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #4634.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Rudnick of Thorp; six children: Donald (Sue) Rudnick of Thorp, Peggy (Rick) Wrobel of Thorp, Carol Rudnick of Thorp; Rodney (Kristine) Rudnick of Stanley, Nancy (Russell) Pogodzinski of Cadott, and Lawrence Rudnick, Jr. of Thorp; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters: Dolores (Albert) Selzler of Chippewa Falls, WI, Angeline Rudnick of Anamoose, ND, Wendelin Rudnick of Anamoose, ND, Matt (Theresa) Rudnick of Anamoose, ND, Leo (Angie) Rudnick of Harvey, ND, Gilbert (Betty) Rudnick of Anamoose, ND, and Cecilia (John) Dosch of Bismarck, ND; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cynthia Rudnick on December 31, 1981.
