Grand children served as pall bearers and flower girls. Mrs. Schoelzel, nee Anna Schulz, was born on January 31, 1873, in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 17. She lived in Chicago, Ill., where she married August Schoelzel on July 3, 1892. The following year, they came to the town of Colby and settled on a farm. In 1920, they retired and moved to the city of Colby. Mr. Schoelzel died on August 6, 1947. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Meyers of Colby and Mrs. John (Ella) Leonhard of Lake Geneva; a son, Rudolph, of Colby; 33 grand children and 24 great grand children. Mrs. Schoelzel was a member of the First Evagelical and Reformed church and the Women’s Guild of that church. She held the office of president of the Women’s Guild for 25 successive years. She was a good Christian, honest in all her dealings, and, being of a congenial disposition, had many friends who were sorry to hear of her sudden death.
