Surnames: Pohl, Sprengler, Thompson, Bulgrin, Smiley, Klessig, Johnson, Koerner, Schiszik, Bublitz, Matthias, Harmel, Kind, Prag, Malmen, Nikkien, Simmons, Reimer, Kraus, Peterson, Benedun, Pagel, Hartwig, Zuelke, Vorland Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 12/11/1952 Pohl, Richard (16 Mar. 1873 – Dec. 1952) Funeral services for Richard Pohl of Curtiss, age 79, were held Monday afternoon in St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Green Grove, Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating, and burial was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Mrs. Esther Thompson and Mrs. DuWayne Bulgrin, accompanied by Mrs. Lee Smiley, sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Precious Lord, Hold My Hand.” Pall bearers were Wm. Klessig, Jake Johnson, Ervin Koerner, Joe Schiszik, Henry Bublitz and George Koerner. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Frank Matthias and Mrs. Martha Harmel. Mr. Pohl was born on March 16, 1873, in Berlin Germany, and came to the United States at an early age. He was married to Augusta Kind in Colby on June 12, 1909. They lived in the Greenwood community until he retired in 1938 since which time they lived in Curtiss. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Prag of Milwaukee, Mrs. Clayton (Ida) Malmen of Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Cecil (Margaret) Simmons and Mrs. Leslie (Louise) Nikkinen of Lake Forest, Ill.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ed (Pearl) Reimer of West Bend; two step sons, Irvin Pohl of Milwaukee and Herman Kraus of Stevens Point; 10 grand children; eight great grand children. Besides them and their families attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Theo Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Don Benedun of Waupaca, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pagel of Chilton, Ed Kind and sons of New Holstein, Adolph Kind of Germantown, Mrs. Wm. Hartwig of Milwaukee, Mrs. Wm. Zuelke of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind and Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Kind of Greenwood and Mrs. Pearl Vorland of Colby.
