Edward Borck, youngest son of the late Christina and Fred Borck, passed away at his home in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), on the afternoon of Aug. 28, 1941, one half hour after his mother’s funeral. He had reached the age of 46 years, 4 months and 4 days.

Edward was born on the oldest homestead in the town of Worden, on April 24th, 1895. His youth and early manhood was spent at home where he helped his devoted parents to clear and build a beautiful farm.

At the age of 22 he joined his friends to serve with the American Expeditionary force in France.

After his return, he was employed as a cheesemaker in Thorp, Boyd and Junction City. He later assisted various farmers in this community during the busy seasons. In addition he was an active member of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118, of the American Legion until the time of his death.

Edward was a devoted son, a kind and loving brother, and a sincere friends to all who knew him.

His parents and two brothers, Herbert and Bertie, preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Arthur of Thorp and four sisters, (Ella) Mrs. Henry Coates, (Alma) Mrs. Richard Coates, of Thorp, (Lily) Mrs. George Yoder of Gilman, and (Margie) Mrs. Kenneth Miller of Seattle Wash., many other relatives and an infinite number of friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Bogumill Funeral Home with Rev. Hotchkiss of Owen officiating, interment being made in the East Thorp Cemetery.

About thirty-five members of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the American Legion attended the funeral in a body and military honors were conferred at the grave with the salute to the dead by a firing squad and sounding of taps.

American Legion members who acted as pallbearers were: John and Conrad Barth, Nels Myrin, Thomas Polnaszek, Henry Huls, gust Weisner.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral of Edward Borck on Sunday last were: Mr. and Mrs. Tom Larsen and family and Mrs. Irma Klinka of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Landry, son Jack, of Neillsville, Mrs. Frank Krampeter of Gilmanton, Mr. and Mrs. George Badzinski of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. George Yoder and Mr. and Mrs. …..(the rest of my copy was cut off)
