Schauer, Bertha (18 Feb. 1875 – 14 Apr. 1955)

Services for Mrs. Bertha Schauer of Spencer, Route 1, who died Thursday at the Marshfield hospital at the age of 80 years, were held at the Trinity Lutheran church in Spencer Sunday afternoon, Rev. Randolph Mueller officiating, and internment was made in the Green Grove cemetery. Death was due to a lingering illness.

Mrs. Schauer, nee Janicke, was born on February 18, 1875, in Missouri. She married Ferdinand Schauer, who died on December 10, 1925, which took place on March 27, 1894, in Renville county, Minn. The past two years she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schauer, on their farm home near Spencer. Before that she had lived for some time in Minnesota and in the town of Green Grove.

Surviving are six sons, William Schauer of Menomonie, Ernest Schauer of Edgar, Oscar Schauer of Abbotsford, Erick Schauer of Neenah, Walter Schauer of Spencer and Herbert Schauer of Thorp; a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Graffunder of Abbotsford; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Rushmeyer of Anoka, Minn., 20 grand children and 11 great grand children. Two daughters, three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

Many from here will remember her as a good Christian of a kind and friendly disposition, never complaining, and always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
