Bender, Emma (15 Sept. 1897 – 10 May 1955)
Mrs. George Bender of Abbotsford died at her home shortly before noon Tuesday after a lingering illness at the age of 57 years. The body was at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby but will be taken to the Bender home this Thursday noon to lie in state. Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran church at 1:30 P.M. Friday, Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating, and internment will be made in the Colby cemetery.
Mrs. Bender was born on Sept. 15, 1897, in Rock county. She married George Bender on August 19, 1916, at Town Center, Rock county. The couple moved onto a farm east of Colby in 1922 and moved to Abbotsford in 1942.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Henry of Spencer and Melvin of Dorchester; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Florence) Denzine of Medford, Mrs. Eldred (Avenelle) Empey of Abbotsford and Mrs. Orville (Virginia) Koehn of Schofield; 17 grand children; two brothers, Otto Guse of Evansville and Arthur Guse of Janesville; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Rook of Janesville and Mrs. Corwin Cline of Baraboo. One son and one brother preceded her in death.
