Hardrath, Herman (17 DEC 1856 - 19 SEP 1941)

Funeral services were conducted from the Viking Theatre at Colby on Monday afternoon for Herman Hardrath, 84. Mr. Petrin of Milwaukee officiated.

Mr. Hardrath had been suffering from a lingering illness for many months. He passed away at his farm home in the Town of Green Grove on Friday, Sept. 19. Interment was made in the Beaver cemetery.

Six grandsons of Mr. Hardrath served as pallbearers. They were Howard, Halbert, Harlan, Alden and Allen Hardrath and Duane Fischer.

Seven granddaughters were the flower girls, Mrs. Walter Pieper, Mrs. Stanley Stevens, Mrs. Roscoe Alexander, Mrs. Gilbert Weidenhoft, Beverly Fischer, Veryl Nelson and Mrs. Alden Hardrath.

Herman Hardrath was born on December 17, 1856, in Germany where he spent the first 14 years of his life at which time he came to this country with his parents. He spent his early life in southern Wisconsin. In 1882 he was united in marriage to Emma Molle. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hardrath came to Clark county and settled on a farm in the Town of Green Grove, where he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of six years, which time he lived at Loyal.

He leaves to survive him four sons, Henry, Louis and Herman Jr. of Green Grove, and Albert of Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Nelson and Mrs. Martha Schuette of Beaver, and Mrs. Esther Fischer of Green Grove; 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 1933 and a son, Arthur, died in 1901.
