Surnames: Allar, Beschta, Sterzinger, Dalhke, Jicinsky, Frane, Roohr, Kniess, Schuller, Greaser, Gressinger, Hagelschur, Baer Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 04/06/1950 Allar, Mary (11 Mar. 1872 – 1 Apr. 1950) Mrs. Mary Allar died early Saturday morning at her home in the town of Colby at the age of 78 years, dropsy being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Randall, Rudy and Frank G. Sterzinger and George, Frank and Raymond Allar. Flowers were in charge of Mary and Virgean Dalhke, Dinise and Mary Sterzinger, Deloren Jicinsky, Ruth Ann Frane, Joanne Roohr and Marie Kniess. The body had been lying in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home where a rosary service was held Monday evening. Mrs. Allar, nee Sterzinger, was born on March 11, 1872, in Germany. She came to the United States with her parents when seven years of age and resided in Milwaukee for a few years. Later, they moved to the town of Colby. She was married to Matthias Allar on August 16, 1898, who preceded her in death on July 1, 1943. Surviving are a son, Mathias Allar, Jr., of the town of Colby; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Schuller of Milwaukee; three brothers, Mike Sterzinger of Milwaukee and Joe and Frank Sterzinger of the town of Colby. Two grand children also survive. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic church, belonged to the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters and the Christian Mothers’ Society. She was of a friendly, kind and hospitable disposition and no one ever entered her home without feeling the warmth of a genuine hospitality, so characteristic of the early settlers of this community. She will be sadly missed by many friends as well as her relatives. Out of town people here for the funeral were Mike Sterzinger, Barbara Schuller, Mrs. John Sterzinger, Mrs. Frank Kniess and Mrs. Elmer Greaser and son Ronald of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Allar of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allar of Wausau, Mrs. Louise Allar, John Gressinger and Mr. and Mrs. Garlind Gressinger of Marshfield, Ben Dalhke and children of Edgar, Victor Frane of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Frane and Donald Frane of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Art Frane of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Allar and family of Spencer, Miss Barbara Hagelschur of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Baer of Dorchester.
